Sync & Share Files – Mobile & on Any OS

Sync files online – across all computers automatically – using DropBox

This is one of our hybrid apps that utilizes software you “install” on a computer(s) but can also utilize via the Internet.  The great thing about the software is that it is Free and works “as is” on any Operating System (Mac, Linux and Windows). Simply install the free software on the computers you regularly use to create files (documents, images, videos, etc). The application will automatically create a DropBox folder on your computer(s). Next time you create a file and you want to make sure that you can gain access to the information from anywhere, simply place the new document, image, video, etc in your DropBox folder. All files in this folder will automatically be kept in sync across ALL of your computers that you have installed the DropBox application.  You can also access all of your DropBox files from any computer (even without installing) via an Internet connection. Your synced files are automatically uploaded to the DropBox secured website.

Review of Basic App Features:

  • Syncing Files & Backup – 2GB of online storage for FREE – up to 100GB available to paying customers.  Sync files of any size or type.  Automatically Syncs – new files or any changes detected.
  • Work on files when offline – if you’re offline, your changes sync once your computer has an Internet connection again.
  • Grant File Access – Allow several people to collaborate and work in real-time or create Public Folders.
  • Access Control –  designate users that can access your shared folders (including ability to kick people out and remove the shared files from their computers).
  • Share Photos – Create shareable online photo galleries.
  • Online Backup– automatically back up files online, undelete files and folders, restore previous versions of your files, 30 days of undo history (unlimited undo with paid option).
  • Search – your entire Dropbox for files or examine your “Recent Events” feed showing a summary of activity.
  • Mobile Device Access– The free mobile app lets you view and download files, take photos & videos and sync them to your Dropbox, and to share your files via links with others.

Summary Review and Grade

  • Registration Required – Free, requires an email and you create a password so that you can gain access to all your files while you are on any computer via any browser
  • Download – Free software, install on any computers you use to create/edit files
  • Installation Required – only to sync, create and edit – you can view and download your files from any computer without installing
  • Works on All Web-browsers
  • No Technical Experience Necessary
  • Works Cross-platform – on all computer platforms – (Linux, Macs, Windows)
  • 2GB Free online storage and up to 100GB for paid options
  • Automatically syncs when new files or changes are detected
  • Access files via mobile devices (iPhone, iPad, Android and BlackBerry)

We had to deduct because of our grading policy on Installation and Downloading but this is one of our favorite hybrids because you can use the same application on any Operating system and still gain full access via the Internet and any browser. A great application to utilize if you are regularly working on different computers (work, home desktop, laptop).
