Free, fun, fast and friendly online word processor and chat – using PrimaryPad

Create documents, share ideas, and collaborate with others by simply copying and pasting the webpage URL and sending an email. The text is synchronized as you type, everyone viewing the pages sees the same text in ‘real-time’. The app also includes a chat option to exchange ideas and information with others without cluttering up the document and you also can track document revisions.  Once you are finished, select to export as word, plain text, PDF, and others. Your created documents are saved for 30 days and any updates are accessible through the original page link so no need to send emails to collaborators each time. Originally developed and designed by a teacher, this app is great for interactive teacher-student sessions but works just as well with your business colleagues and team/group members. The application does not provide a lot of rich features and is limited to a word processing application, you cannot upload or insert images, etc.

Basic version is a ‘forever free’ version and no free trial periods and you do not even need to register to begin using. The application does also offer a Pro account in which you can add features that include creating passwords to secure your documents and keeping a stored copy forever… We had to deduct a little in the grade because the features are limited but this is still a great and easy-to-use application that works very fast for collaborating with others on simple word processing projects.

Free, online PDF reader, editor, form filler, & form designer – using PDFescape

Free online PDF reader that allows for the viewing/reading of PDF documents using only a web-browser. No registration or installation required. This can be very helpful for those who don’t have any PDF reader software installed on their system.  This application allows you to reader any PDF file by uploading from a PDF document that might be on your computer or sent to your email (just save the PDF and upload to the apps website). You can also select to view any PDF found on the web by just entering the URL of PDF file on the apps web-page. If you wish to register to the apps website, then you can store some of the PDFs that you view for later reference BUT there is no requirement to register if you simply want to view a PDF file. This online PDF reader also offers other options for you to insert text, images, links etc. in your PDF file(s) and you can also save and print your ‘updated’ PDF file. For the Free version, you need to make sure that your PDF files do not exceed 10 MB and that they are less than 100 pages.

This is a quick and easy to use application for viewing PDF files. We have used this app after receiving PDF files that require completing form fields but the original file was not configured to allow for typing on the form.  Registration is Free, if you want to revert back to or store some of your PDF files on online, but there is no requirement to register to use many of the great features provided.  Give it a try the next time you get a PDF file or before you get ready to send a regular PDF file to your customers.

Zoho Writer is one of the most complete online word processors and easily rivals desktop word processors for day-to-day usage. In addition to having a WYSIWYG (What-You-See-Is-What-You-Get) editor and over a dozen fonts, Zoho Writer has the ability to insert tables, links, html, and images into documents.

How Zoho Works

Zoho Writer works just like a regular word processor. You can start with a blank page, or import HTML, DOC, DOCX, SXW (Open Office), ODT, RTF, JPEG, GIF, PNG and text files, with a 10MB maximum file size. You can also export documents to a similarly wide range of formats, as well as publish documents and share. A useful History feature lets you revert to any previously saved versions. It also can show you the differences between the versions. The result looks similar to revisions in MS Word — highlighted and underlined — but it does not identify the name of the user that provided the change.

Sharing & Collaboration
Easily share your documents online, with friends on an individual basis and in group. Collaborate on them in real time. Publish as a link, grant read-only or edit privileges (note that to edit- others will be required to create a Zoho account- which is also free).

Offline Support
Through the use of Google Gears, Zoho Writer allows you to work offline, so you can save your docs to your computer. Access and edit existing documents even without an internet connection. Offline document edits will be synchronized when you are online.

Post to Blog
A nice way of sharing documents with the whole world. Make use of Zoho Writer’s feature rich WYSIWYG editor for publishing your documents to your blog. The publish utility supports Blogger, LiveJournal, WordPress and TypePad.

Import / Export Documents
Upload documents from your desktop, Google Docs or anywhere on the Web. Download and save them to your computer too.

Page View Editing
Write your documents in a real paper like environment. Edit them the way you wish to see in print. You can also utilize the “tagging system” which will allow you to organize your documents by tag and create folders from any tags your create.
